Welcome to CicloToscana, a doorway into the most authentic soul of Tuscany.

Founded in 2023 by Dimitri Rossi, a young entrepreneur and passionate Cycling Tour Guide, CicloToscana is a family story devoted to the art of slow travel.

The seed was planted during an adventurous journey in 2022, when Dimitri rode his bike from Viareggio to Barcelona. That road, with its silences and horizons, inspired the dream of sharing Tuscany in a new way: through the gentle rhythm of the e-bike, with eyes open to beauty.

Today, based in Terricciola, in the province of Pisa, and in Florence, we craft exclusive private tours that lead you beyond the obvious, towards the timeless heart of the region: Florence and San Gimignano, the rolling Chianti hills, the Tuscan coast, and villages where life still flows quietly.

Every tour is more than an itinerary: it is an invitation to feel Tuscany. To ride through landscapes that take your breath away, to pause in vineyards and taste fine wines, to listen to the stillness of olive groves.

With CicloToscana, each pedal stroke becomes a memory. A way of traveling that is sustainable, authentic, and deeply human.

The Tuscan Heritage

of the Rossi Family

img_2545.jpeg

The story of the Rossi family is rooted deep in the late 1700s, when the earliest local records speak of a humble family of farmers from the Valdera hills. They were simple, steadfast people, born of a land that is gentle and demanding at the same time. People who rose before the sun and returned home at dusk with dust on their hands, carrying a sense of dignity that time would never erase.

From this lineage came Sestilio Rossi, born in 1895, the sixth of six children — and that is precisely why his parents, with a mix of hope and typical Tuscan irony, chose the name Sestilio. He was the last-born, the child who arrived when the family had already experienced everything: joys, hardships, generous harvests and difficult seasons.

Sestilio grew up in a Tuscany scented with wheat sheaves, new wine, and slow-turning seasons. He became an innestino, one of those humble ancient trades that today feel almost poetic: the craftsman who grafts two branches together to give birth to new life. A master of nature capable of transforming a tree into something stronger, more fertile, more resilient. A perfect metaphor for his own life.

In 1924 — between the two World Wars — Sestilio and Lina welcomed Ruggiero, a man who, after the war, would turn the bicycle into his personal expression of freedom in the spare time left by his work on the railways.
Ruggiero loved cycling: he joined countless rides and events, earning many medals that the family still keeps. It was the Italy of reconstruction, of Bartali and Coppi. He passed this passion on to his children, especially to Emiliano.

With great family sacrifice, Emiliano became an aeronautical engineer — the first Rossi to earn a university degree — and spent his entire career in industry, seemingly far from the world of bicycles.

From Emiliano and Susi, Dimitri was born in 1989. He inherited everything: the ancient roots of a farming family, the quiet rebellion of great-grandfather Sestilio, the convincing strength of grandfather Ruggiero, the methodical confidence of his father Emiliano, the artistic soul of his mother Susi, and above all a profound love for the bicycle.

A thread that never breaks.

After graduating and living in Spain, in 2022 Dimitri — supported by the love of Claudia — chose to follow that inner calling and set off by bicycle from Tuscany to Barcelona.
A journey of over 1,200 kilometers, made of silence, light, roads, wind, and horizons.
A journey that was never meant to be an “achievement,” but a return — to himself, to his story, to the roots of his family.

The Rossi family — today the heart of CicloToscana — has walked these lands for more than seven generations and over two centuries. And it still accompanies those who come to Tuscany to discover what truly matters: authentic beauty crafted by hand, time lived well, memory that becomes future, and light that becomes a road.
